Setting boundaries…
For many people, setting boundaries is a daily challenge. Saying no to your boss, having a tough conversation with a friend, needing space from family, or expressing discomfort during intimacy are just a few examples. Does this sound familiar?
Understanding why we struggle with boundaries and knowing what we want—and don't want—can take us far. But before we can actually set boundaries, we need to feel and sense them. How do we do that? That’s where I invite you to join me for an evening of gentle and playful somatic practices, where we can explore our boundaries together.
What to expect:
This workshop is all about embodying your boundaries.
You will be guided through an evening of self-exploration and discovery, engaging in experiential practices such as mindfulness, embodied movement, voice expression, and dialogue. You’ll be invited to approach your boundaries with curiosity, noticing what becomes alive as you explore and experiment.
While this workshop won’t delve into the origins of our boundaries, it offers an interactive experience where we can explore using our voices and bodies in a safe(r) environment together. Think of it as an adult "practice space," where you can experiment and build confidence before applying what you've learned with the people you feel most vulnerable with.
This workshop also offers opportunities for relational healing. While self-reflection and introspection is important, we recognize the profound impact of human connection. In a group setting, we can witness and be witnessed by others, share vulnerabilities, and begin to uncouple from social conditioning.
FAQ.
"I’m new to boundary work. Will I be able to keep up?"
Absolutely! This workshop is designed for all levels. You can engage at your own pace and only participate in practices that feel comfortable for you.
"What if I’m not sure what my boundaries are?"
That’s okay! This workshop is a space to explore and discover what your boundaries feel like in your body. There’s no need to have all the answers; the focus is on noticing and experimenting.
"I’m scared I might get triggered or feel vulnerable."
Boundary work can bring up strong feelings for some, especially if boundaries have been violated in the past. All practices are optional and guided gently, allowing you to go at your own pace. The evening will be gently guided with lots of deep breaths and movements of grounding. The host is also trauma-informed.
"Will there be any physical touch or nudity?"
No, this workshop is not focused on sexuality or romantic intimacy.
"I am not a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Am I welcome to join?"
This workshop is exclusive for the LGBTQ+ community. We appreciate your understanding!
A safe(r) space:
Authenticity and Self-agency are the pillars of this space.
Everything I offer is optional and the practice will be gently guided, suitable for beginners as well as for more advanced practitioners who wish to practice regularly. I am trauma-informed and will always have an assistant to serve as extra support in the space. There will be no extreme loud sounds or bright lights and there are always opportunities to withdraw, either in the ‘chill out corner’ (including my favorite stuffed animal) or outside of the practice room.
